Science Foundation of Mainz supports Prof. Münzel's environmental research at the Center for Cardiology
The Science Foundation is providing €270,000 for the environmental research of Prof. Münzel at the Center for Cardiology at Mainz University Medical Center. The goal of the project is to better understand the harmful effects of air pollution and traffic noise on the cardiovascular system and to support political decision-making processes with solid scientific evidence.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Münzel is initiator of the foundation "Mainzer Herz" (Heart of Mainz), founded in 2007.

Thomas MÜnzel
Prof. Dr. Thomas Münzel was director of the Center for Cardiology at the Mainz University Medical Center for 20 years and transformed the once small department into a nationally renowned center.
In his senior professorship, he is now devoting himself to the effects of environmental stressors on the cardiovascular system.
